Item #18155 – Gebrüder Bing Series IV Tin Clockwork Ocean Liner16” Circa 1928A very attractive, 16", three-funneled tin ocean liner fromGebrüder Bing. The Series IV liners were manufactured circa 1928-1931 andfeature a distinctive copper bottom. This particular example is in very goodcondition, but has suffered a couple of bumps - probably while in service as atoy for some lucky young man. There is a dent at the waterline on the portside, aft, and some chipping to the enamel on t...he decks, rails, rudder and main mast.There is a scrape or scar in the black enamel midship on her portside. Thereare additional, tiny flaws in her decoration here and there, as would beexpected. Her original, twisted wire rigging and aerial are intact, as are herforward chains and anchors. A pennant is absent from her main mast. All eightlifeboats are present in their davits. There is no key and I have not attemptedto test the clockwork - although I can state that she is very clean inside andher twin props turn freely. There has been no restoration - the ship is just asmy Dad purchased her some 30 years ago.
