Uncommon Takahashi Japan .965" Herschel wedge for astronomical telescopes, an old-school style device for white light viewing of the Sun.
Has an opening on the back (second photo) that lets about 96% of the light through, the other 4% goes to the eyepiece. Not for conventional viewing. Designed to be used in conjunction with a strong neutral density filter, not by itself.
We are offering this not so much as a usable piece but as a collectible as there are lots better ...(safer and cheaper) ways to view the Sun nowadays and the .965" size has very limited usability in this day and age.
Not labeled as a Takahashi product but there is no doubt about it, the compression style eyepiece clamp and its specific design are exclusive to Takahashi at the time of build.
Note this is the old-school .965" size, not the current 1.25"/2".
