Leia (Boushh Disguise)
UNPRODUCED Version
Kenner/Hasbro, 1996 Original, factory-sealed 3.75" scale action figure from the "Shadows of the Empire" series. Comes as shown. This is an early carded sample of Leia (Boushh Disguise) featuring a paint scheme that was never released. The paint scheme strongly resembles the painted hardcopy found in th...e photography on the back of the "Shadows" series packages, as well as some "Power of the Force" cardbacks as well. I don't think there has ever been a formal name given to this unreleased paint scheme, but I like to call it the "Photo Art" version (because of a similar scheme being found on the retail packages of other toys as described above). Why Kenner went with the drab, darker (and less movie accurate) paint version, I have no idea! If you are a collector, you may also recognize the paint scheme from the [very small] handful of carded samples/mock-ups that have shown up on mismatched cardbacks over the years; I have seen one on an red/orange POTF2 Boba cardback as well as two on red/orange POTF2 Darth Vader cardbacks. There have also been 2-3 loose examples out there, but are still incredibly hard to find. What makes this piece special?
1) This specimen itself is unique. Believe it or not, there are different "Photo Art" Leia specimens out there, and the only one with a paint scheme that matches this one's was the one found on a Boba Fett cardback. 2) As mentioned, the figure itself has a paint scheme that matches only one known example. The key identifying characteristics are the orange paint mask on the helmet (much cleaner and brighter than other "Photo Art" Leia's and, of course, the retail release) and the right arm being unpainted from the sleeve down (i.e. no deco detailing on her gloves). This is, of course, on top of the obvious paint scheme difference from the production version as a whole. 3) The figure DOES have a date stamp, yet it is a much earlier date stamp than any retail release of this figure...by a long shot. I have included several pictures here for your reference, trying to capture numerous angles and giving you a crystal clear idea of how different this piece is what from what was sold in stores. Package condition: the package is in decent shape, but by no means mint (as the photos clearly show). Remember, this is a pre-production factory sample, and pieces like this one are often "rescued" pieces that were clearly not kept in pristine condition. This one is no exception. The cardback exhibits edge wear from storage. The bubble inner tray is yellowed, but the outter bubble is still clear. The bubble does have denting. Please review the photos carefully and ask any questions you may have before bidding. This item will be shipped to the winning bidder in a Star Case and will be double-boxed for protection. Shipping rates listed here reflect the cost of insuring and figure at full value and of the additional packaging/package weight that will be required to send it. If it costs less to send than what I have quoted below, I will refund you the difference immediately after mailing. If you are looking to own an amazing part of POTF2 and modern "Star Wars" history, this is your chance! Don't miss this opportunity to add a historic piece to your collection, whether you are a variant hunter or a prototype collector!
