An 18th Century sil panel from a gentleman's waistcoat. The pocket is missing, but there are signs of stitching. The embroidery is very bright without fading, I have photographed the back which shows the same colours. It is worked on a silk satin ground. the panel is 25 12" 65cm) long and 14 12" (37cm) wide, it is in very good condition. This belonged to a relative of Mr William Gaskell who was the husband of the famous Victorian novelist Mrs Gaskell. I can send a photocopy of an interesting let...ter written to Miss Gaskell who owned the lace, by the granddaughter of the family who introduced Mrs Gaskell to Charlotte Bronte. The original will be sent to the National Trust.NB: I will only be posting once a week, as I have a member of my household who is in the vulnerable group and must not catch the virus. If I have not received payment by Thursday morning following the auction, purchases will not be shipped until the following Thursday. Measures 6 inches in length with a 14 inch round ball. Would be about a 30 caliber. Nice patina to the iron. Goes well with a hunting bag or haversack. Vintage Mid Century Hand Embroidered Christmas Placemats Napkins Set 6 Each Excellent vintage condition. There are some very faint stained areas but they are very minor. Some discoloration is to be expected due to age. These do not look like they were used more then once and are very white and well taken care of. On one of the placemats there is a small area that is unfinished which I have pointed out in the photos. The red berries were not stitched on the right hand side holly for one mat. Phot...os stand for condition and measurements and are considered part of the description of the item.
