Vintage Ichimatsu Gofun Dolls from the late 1930s before Japan was at war. The dolls were purchased in Hawaii between 1941 and 1945 as a gift for my mother. They have been stored in a locked glass hutch for the past 50 years. The dolls are in excellent condition with the exception of a small crack on the back of the boy's right leg (see picture), which I have been informed is expected based on the materials used. They are precise reminders of a bygone era of doll making. The original f...acial painting and detailed stitching on the kimonos is notable. The dolls eyes are made of glass. Materials: The dolls are made of a composition of materials. Traditional Gofun dolls are made from ground oyster shells with a bisque-like finish.
