This antique Chinese silk embroidered gilded lilies bound foot lotus slipper shoes date from the mid 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. They are hand stitched and made of a orange color silk fabric, with colorful raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work lotus flowers. There is... decorative silk damask weave woven ribbon trim edging around the bottom and blue damask weave woven pattern silk fabric with red silk trim edging along the top. These tiny gilded lilies women's bound foot lotus slipper shoes have a quilted linen fabric bottom soles with an arched heel, pointed toes are fully lined and attached in the back with a blue silk ribbon loop. The shoes measures 5 inches long, 1 inches wide and 5 1/2 inches tall. For over a thousand years Chinese women's beauty was judged by the size of their feet. The ideal foot was three inches long and shaped like a lotus bud flower. They are in good as-is condition, with some slight faint fade, staining discoloration in areas, showing some wear with loose missing frayed silk trim (see close-ups). These are truly a rare unique piece of Chinese shoe art!
