Pair 1954 Altec Lansing 288C Horn Drivers Perfect Diaphragms Audiophile

Early 1958 Altec Lansing 288C Horn Drivers Original Perfect Diaphragms Matched Pair for Audiophiles & Collectors. In every way these are the same as the 288RWB and 288-B just the outer finish and label are different.These are a beautiful sounding pair in excellent condition considering their age of 65 years, they have been take care of very well. There is minor scratches and paint splatter on the finish. Due to age they are being sold as is, please see all photos and inspect for yo...urself the codition of these drivers for yourself. This is a Very Early Pair of 288C from the Fifties, notice the Rope Gasket Shared by the 288-RWB & 288-B Hollywood Units, also the throat screen is identical to the Earliest 288-RWB and 288B Hollywood units, this was done to fit the Tar Filled Brass Throats which had the washer as part of the mounting flange. The diaphragm leads on these diaphragms is very long like the earlier units, I did not remove the diaphragms but these would be the faster diaphragms as those found on the early unitsThe back cover where the Altec Logo is is the same type as the early drivers, the 288C's that were the second generation of these drivers had Rubber Gaskets under the Back Cover, Smaller Lettering on the Cover and rubber gaskets in the throat.These Units were in a Hollywood Cinema Originally, you can see some paint splatter on the surface of the drivers, the splattered paint can be removed very easily if needed, I have left it on, adds a bit of character to their provenance.This auction will start at .01 cent.
