Harry Houdini - The Unmasking Of Robert - Houdin - Signed 1908 US 1st HB Magic
Item History & Price
Inscribed by Houdini to the front endpaper in the year of publication: "With compliments of the author Harry Houdini May 19 1908".
The book is reasonably firmly bound in the publisher's light brown cloth, lettered and decorated in white and black, the corners and spine ends are bumped, there are small tears to the cloth and the boards are somewhat rubbed a...nd faded with minor marking. The text block is slightly toned, marked and dusty with cracking at points.
Houdini's detailed, meticulous and slightly bitter history of magic, bitter in so much that as the title suggests each trick described is one for which Robert-Houdin claimed the credit of invention, and the disillusioned man, who used Houdin's name as the basis of his own stage name, is anxious to re-claim the credit for the true originators. Copies inscribed in the year of publication are uncommon.
