Nagra IV - D Portable Tape Recorder Reel To Reel Field Recorder
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:7013149 | Type: Tape Recorder |
Brand: NAGRA |
I have had this particular tape machine for maybe 20 years; it was purchased second hand from a film-sound technician in the Boston area in the late 90s & it has seen light use since then. I have j...ust booted it up w/ 12 fresh D batteries & I can confirm that playback & recording functions are very much working, although I have no sense as to the unit's calibration needs outside of that. The battery compartment is relatively clean (see photos) and the capstan, heads, guides, puck/wheel, & rollers are in completely acceptable, functional shape.
Here is a video going through the functions (battery test, etc.) of this exact unit showing the meters functioning, the speaker making sound & playing back a tape of some found psychedelic guitar music (I'll include this tape in the sale; it's so much fun recording on tape!):Nagra IV-D - YouTubeVideo will open in a new window

I'm also glad to let you pick this up if you're in the NYC area; the machine is in the studio in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.
