Original Description:
This is a nice War-Time example of a U.S. NCO Sword, Model 1840 and is a classic sword that was used during the U.S. Civil War. It is mounted with a blade that shows to have received cleanings from over the years but does remain in good condition. The blade measures 31 7/8 inches in length and continues to wear good markings which includes the maker's name "EMERSON & SILVER TRENTON N.J." on one side of the ricasso as well as is dated "U.S. 1863" on the other side. The brass hilt has an... inspector's mark on the guard and remains in very nice condition with a lovely aged patina now developed. The metal scabbard is brass fitted and remains nice however the base fitting is broken and would need to be replaced. Overall measuring 38 1/4 inches in length.
