An extremely rare late 15th century / Early 16th Century Oak court cupboard. Planked top cleated ends above a central panel flanked by a pair of doors, exceptional original 15th/16th century tracery carving of floral type depicting carnations, Tulip and Tudor rose and flanked by Gothic carved steeples above a pair of Tudor rose carved side hung drawers. The cupboard doors with pierced iron surround backed with burgundy fabric and with similarly pierced iron fabric backed locks ...and iron pin hinges, the drawers with split pin iron handles, all iron appears to be original. Below, an open pot board cupboard with carved linen fold panelled back and planked base and with flanking carved Gothic steeple supports. The cupboard sides of panelled linen fold form. 
The cupboard style is influenced by French designs of the period but the linen fold panelling together with the Tracery carving incorporating the Tudor rose strongly suggests that this cupboard is English ( extremely rare ) with French design influence, an influence not uncommon for items of this period and quality. 
The cupboard is in very good usable condition and displaying expected signs of restorations carried out at various points during its 500 year journey through time . 
Beautiful colour and patina. A very rare and valuable object. Fantastic investment opportunity ( pieces such as this are expected to rise in value ) 
This Cupboard was purchased from a reputable Antiques dealer to furnish our 16th century house ( We have recently moved home and sadly no longer have available space for the cupboard ) 
This is an original 15th / 16th century period cupboard  ( by no means is this cupboard a reproduction or a made up piece ) 
Dimensions: 132 cm wide, 54 cm deep, 143 cm high  / APPROXIMATELY 80kg
