This is an authen...tic late 18th to early 19th century walnut country French cabinet with hutch top large enough for oversize platters or dishes. The cabinet below has two deep buffet drawers with wood knobs, one divided in half and then a large lower blind cabinet below, also divided in two but a removable shelf. Note the old front to back construction in the bottom of the lower cabinet. it along with it's very old (completely non-active) worm wood, mortise and tenon construction and lovely carving help date this amazing antique French cupboard, still in such nice condition and with it's original finish.
This antique step-back cupboard stands 91 1/2 inches tall and is 56 inches wide and 24 inches deep overall. The top does remove for shipping so it travels easily in two pieces. The hutch top measures 50 1/2 inches tall by 54 inches wide by 11 inches deep, front to back. It has three plate rails, each 7 inches front to back and 52 inches long with a wooden guard across the front, to hold and display dishes, platters etc. The lower cabinet stands 41 1/2 inches tall, with a lip that allows the top hutch to sit recessed into the bottom, and is 56 inches wide and 24 inches front to back. The two drawers across the top are each 14 1/2 inches wide by 18 inches front to back and 4 inches deep, with one being divided in half. They each have an original wooden drawer pull. The blind cabinet behind the two doors measures 48 inches wide by 25 1/2 inches wide by 18 1/2 inches front to back, and it is divided in half by one removable horizontal shelf. Overall this is a spectacular antique French cupboard in marvelous condition, and it will make a marvelous addition to your home or place of business.
