This clock is a very very rare clock and is dated via its various stamps accurately at spring 1899. (Placed at the nearest clock recorded to the GB- VFU Merger date)
Gustav Becker merged with UFV in June 1899 and according to data compiled by various websites the serial number on this clock makes it the nearest known and recorded clock to the merger date and so is extremely rare.
Little is known regarding the design but it is suggested that w...ith the various emblems (the double lion emblem) on the clock it may be a special merger edition clock unseen before. The clock has been rigorously investigated and as of now only 2 other clocks with a similar design have been sourced. It is with the info researched that is believed this is a one-off clock found nowhere else and such this will possibly be the only time you will ever get a chance to own a clock of this rarity from the merger date of June 1899.
The serial number is 1381648 and is stamped alongside P64 and the crown and anchor stamp with G.B and a clock dial in the centre of the crown used on better quality limited number of clocks.
The clock is from 1899 and for its age is in fantastic condition albeit I will sell it in need of restoration as it does need professionally cleaning and small repairs done but it really is a beautiful and exceptional rare clock which when cleaned will fetch a very good price at auction with its history and potential.
*note please the 2 weights are missing but can replaced by originals quite easily.
If you require further info or photos please ask.
This clock is offered for sale in other places. Please note the starting price is much much less than what I have been advised when the clock is restored.
Sensible offers reflecting the rareness and history will be considered.
*Please note the clock has not been cleaned but just had the thick dust wiped from it so it can be seen!
