Vintage Stanley No. 45 Combination Plane, Type 2, 1886 - 1887, With Cutters

Offered for your consideration is an early Stanley Rule & Level Company No 45 type 2 (1886-87) combination plane and cutters.
STANLEY produced the first No 45 in 1884 - only two years previous to this beauty. The only modification from the type 1 is that the fence has "45" and "STANLEY" cast into the side.
This stunner is in very good overall condition and is free of chips or cracks to the castings. The rosewood knob and handle are both very good (no cracks or chips) wi...th age appropriate nicks and patina. The black japanning is probably 75% (not bad for almost 135 years). The plane positively bristles with round headed knurled brass screws. Both fences slide easily on the threaded rods and the skate is properly stamped with "STANLEY RULE & LEVEL CO PAT. MCH.11, 84". The slitter attachment and depth stop are there and secured with a brass washer and knurled nut. This gorgeous combination plane comes with 13 of the original 18 blades which are all in very nice condition.
