The book (Large Quarto) is bound in the original dark green cloth covered boards, illustration of a dragon to the upper cover, titling to t...he upper cover and spine, all in white; and comes wrapped in the original cream? coloured paper dust jacket, illustration of a dragon to the upper cover, titling and bookseller imprint to the upper cover and spine, publisher advertising to the rear cover, all in black.The dust jacket is browned and rubbed, with light soiling and staining, minor wear and tears to edges, minor loss to one corner, all now protected by a clear plastic sleeve.Cloth binding is rubbed at the edges, scuffed at corners, shelf wear to spine head and foot ends, a couple of minor marks to the rear board.Inside:
The book is complete with 10 leaves of colour plate as called for, all free of any rips or tears, and contains numerous colour chapter head and tail pieces (this was issued with an additional set of colour prints for framing housed in a pocket at the rear, this additional set is lacking). Liquid staining to rear paste down with minor surface damage and remnants of a pocket to the rear paste down.Moderate foxing to end papers and dedication page, otherwise just occasional minor marginal foxing and brown blemishes, and an inscription "from and to" in ink dated 1936 to the front end paper. Otherwise crisp bright and unabused.All pages tightly held at the gutter.Inner hinges are sound.
The books measure 31.5 cm x 25 cm and weighs 1.640kg without packaging.
