Original Description:
From the Vermont estate of a family that were descendants of Stonewall Jackson - great grandmothers maiden name was Jackson - with many turn of the 20th Century items at the sale bearing the Jackson name. Copper pitchers of this type and age are attributed to being slave-made, with copper being believed at the time to kill bacteria in drinking water. Please note the rough-hewn nature of the item. Is is hand hammered, with crude soldering marks. It has retained it’s structural integri...ty and still holds water. Measures 11.5” high with the base being 8” across. Estimated to be from the mid to late 1800’s. A wonderful piece. Please see photos. Thanks.
