Item: Up for auction is a beautiful antique Chinese huanghuali box and cover, probably seal box. The cover inscribed with Ancient Chinese scripts along with artist's inscription, the inscription all carved/incised and filled with gilt, now they worn off and there are some trace of gilt. There is a compartment/tray inside of the box. Beautiful warm honey tone patina through out the box. Ex. estate of former curator of Kentucky museum of art, collected until 1980s.
Siz...e: 4 3/8" X 4 1/4" X 2 1/2" high.
Age: 18/19thc or possibly earlier.
Condition: It is in excellent condition with beautiful patina, no damages except a tight natural hairline to the bottom of the box as shown in the last photo. Wear on surface consistent with age and use.
