George Ohr Rare And Authentic Vase
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:609015 |
Offered today is a rare and Authentic George Ohr Vase. This vase is in the unglazed or Bisque form. For years many collectors thought the unglazed bisque examples were unfinished pieces. What really happened was that around 1905 when Ohr had reached the pinnacle of his career as a potter, he stopped glazing his pots. He left them unglazed, bisque finished. He said "God put no color in the soul, so I'm going to put no color in my pots." This vase is 5 inch...es tall and 2 3/4 inches at the vase. There is one small stress crack in a lower portion of the vase put there by time. I will let the photos speak for themselves. This is an Authentic Ohr Vase with no chips and only the one small stress crack. I purchased this beautiful vase in 1995 from an Art/Antique dealer in Biloxi, MS where George Ohr lived. The Ohr/O'keefe Museum is now located in Biloxi, MS. This vase is from Ohr's work later in life. He usually stamped "Biloxi, MS." in earlier works, but started adding his signature later in life. Returns accepted within 10 days of purchase. I will answer any questions you might have. Buy with confidence as I have a 100% feedback rating.
