Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:59699425 |
This is an antique cast iron figural sardine can opener which measures 5 1/2 inches long x 1 1/2 inches wide and it dates to around the late 19th - early 20th century. This sardine can opener is in the unusual shape of a fish and there is a lot of detail around the eyes, scales to the body and the fins. There is no manufacturer's name or marks to be found but it could possibly have been made by Edward Preston & Sons of Birmingham - a similar example is... to be found in their catalogue for 1909. The condition is good with no splits, cracks, damage or restoration just the normal light signs of wear and tarnishing in places caused through age and use but nothing too serious or detracts in any way. Please excuse any photo flashes. This antique cast iron figural sardine can opener, in the unusual shape of a fish, would make an ideal gift or a great addition to any collection.
