Antique 1908-1912 Wool Challis Stitched US 46 Star American Flag~Stars Appliqued Stitched Sewn~Edging is double stitched~Hem edge is tripled stitched~Metal grommets on either edge end of cotton twill edging~13 Stripes~46 Stars in straight rows of alternating 8 & 7~Measurements are about 49" wide x 69.5" Long
Provenance from the family of Felix W. Jones..US Marin...e in Japan & China on the USS New Orleans 1900..was a Patrolman #504 Police Dept of Public Safely Bureau of Police in Philadelphia, PA in 1913, then he was killed in action 1918 5th Regiment, US Marines in France~Directly purchased from decendent
In Antique Pre-Owned Stored Condition with signs of Use & Damage~Due to being wool challis, moth pinholes, moth bites, moth holes, moth tears/fraying tears (esp along vertical mid-fold)~Some Smudging, Staining, Age Yellowing esp to ecru stripes~Soiling, staining, smudging to cotton twill edging with 2 metal grommets~No strong odors
