The surname Shea is written on the label (see photo of tag). Shea is a very popular surname in Fall River. Player Shea is in top row of the photo (4th from lef...t). (There were also 2 Shea's on the fire department roster in 1906/1907, the year I believe this jersey was likely made). In any event, . It is safe to say the uniform is from 1920 or earlier.
The jersey is in very good condition. It is a very heavy wool. The collar and arm bands appear to be felt. The only blemish I could find are a couple of moth holes in the burgundy collar, otherwise it's in terrific condition. The Jersey is dirty and has not been cleaned. There are no significant stains. It will display beautifully!
The knickers also have some moth holes. They are not in as good of shape as the Jersey but I would still call them very good. The belt is in one piece though a little crispy. The knickers are also quite dirty but again no significant stains.
The short billed hat is in good condition ( bill measured approx 2"). It displays very nicely. The leather inside is a bit crispy (see photo).
The glove is a Reach of Philadelphia. It has seen it's better days, but I'm including it because it was found alongside the uniform and I thought they should be kept together.
The jersey is approximately a size 44, measuring 22" from armpit to armpit. The knickers are Apprvimately 32" waist. The short billed hat is an adult small. The glove is a Reach five finger.
