Rare vintage 1953 Vogue tagged Ginny doll dress #29, Tina from the Kindergarten School Series. This is a brown checked cotton dress, with green and yellow zigzag trim on the bodice and skirt, with matching bloomers. Both pieces are stamped "SAMPLE." (see pictures)
Condition is "Used" although it is in excellent condition.
In the early 1950s, my best friend's mother worked at the Vogue factory in Medford, MA, not far from my house, where she sewed Ginny doll dresses. She some...times brought home dresses for us. Some, like this one, were stamped "SAMPLE, " which I assume means that I was testing this item for Vogue without even knowing it. I loved them all, and played with them and handled them with great care. My doll-playing days are over, and I would love to see these items find a home where they will be appreciated for the link with the past that they are.
