RARE Apollo Saturn S 11 Test Team Launch Operations Patch Only Made For Crew!!. Shipped with USPS First Class. This colorful patch is approximately 4” in diameter. I went to MANY auctions 15-20 years ago & am uncertain where I got this item, but suspect it was from a huge ephemera auction where I purchased many valuable space collectibles (not all made of paper). This was a well known & reputable auctioneer who was a veteran in his field. It’s very difficult to tell if the patch is... “new” (i.e., never worn) or not. You will have to look at the photos & judge for yourself. t any rate, this is a RARE patch that is highly collectible as crew patches were not produced for the public and Apollo 10 and Apollo 12 crew patches are considered scarce among patch collectors. There is also the possibility that this could be a “flown item”, but that cannot be proven. So sorry I don’t have more provenance on this item. This is a very special patch for if you notice, there are 3 blue stars on the left side. These are in honor of the 3 crew members who died during the Saturn S-1 test launch. In the first launch rehearsal at Cape Kennedy in January, 1967 there was a cabin fire & all 3 crew members (Gus Grissom, Ed White, and Roger B. Chaffee) we’re all tragically killed. The command module (CM) was destroyed. As far as I can tell, there is no plastic or any kind of coating on the back of this patch - just fabric from the front (although it does feel a little rough). In very good condition. I base shipping costs on the potential buyer’s zip code. I use very low weight shipping materials in an effort to reduce shipping costs. Postage rate is FIRM at $4 at least. That is the rock bottom, lowest shipping fee the post office charges for packages at First Class. If your item is larger (or heavier) requiring a larger box, please wait until I contact you with the shipping costs or go with the higher rate that eBay has put on my listing.
