Offering a stunningly unique and vintage 1920's WESTERN ELECTRIC Remodded Desk Microphone. This item began life as a hornless cone loudspeaker, and has been lovingly remodded into a working ring spring suspension microphone. The entire frame and ring is one heavy solid cast-aluminum piece...has that classic art-deco vibe from the base to the handle on top with Western Electric embossed into the metal. A vintage ASTATIC D104 mic head is the heart of the piece, u...pdated from crystal to a new moving coil element inside its chromed casing, and works well (producing vintage quality audio) and can be used with any amplifier having a microphone input. The mic head is suspended by 8 springs anchored to the ring and hardwired to a 6 foot period correct cloth-insulated cord terminating with an old 1/4" male phono plug...4 rubber feet to protect your desktop. This is a sizable piece...stands 16" tall with the base measuring 9" x 7".
