One of the rarest AC/DC 7'' SINGLES.
AC/DC, were formed in Sydney Australia in 1973 and in just a couple of yearsthey became oe of the most popular and loved bands in Australia. Theywere tough as nails, they out riffed all other comers and their liveshows were electrifying. Between Malcolm Youngs ...songs, Bon Scott'sremarkable voice and the ground breaking frenetic guitar of AngusYoung, they were almost irresistible and grew a massive audiencereally quickly. Unlike most Aussie bands at the time they werelooking to a bigger playing field and by 1976 they were were alreadytouring the UK and Europe – doing what they already had done isAustralia, destroying audiences at every show and creating one of the fiercest fan bases in history.
The passing of the great BonScott on the brink of breaking the USA, could have been the end ofthe band, but the decision to carry on proved a smart one and withex-Geordie vocalist Brian Johnson on board they became one of thebiggest and most enduring acts in rock history. The Back in Blackalbum has sold over 50 million copies world wide.
All theearly singles were released in Australia on the famous AlbertProductions label, run by Angus and Malcolm's older brother GeorgeYoung and his songwriting partner from The Easybeats Harry Vanda.These early AC/DC singles on Alberts are highly sought after by AccaDacca fans all over the world. Albert Productions were distributed byEMI Australia.
In 1977 they released the second single fromthe Let There Be Rock album. DOG EAT DOG / CARRY ME HOME. Theb-side was unavailable in any format for many years turning up on theBonfire box set in 1997.
It was their ninth single inAustralia and was never released in anyother territory. Even plain stock copies sell for bigbucks these days. It was released on 21 March 1977. As was EMI'shabit at the time, before the single was actually released in stores, they made a special and very limited run of 'A-LABEL' copies of thesingle given to radio stations to promote the song and the releasedate. The difference is the label has the release date 'REL. 21.3.77'printed in the same grey/silver as the song titles, etc and a largeletter A overprint going out over the Alberts logo and out to theyellow lines at the edge of the label.
These AC/DC DOG EATDOG A-LABEL PROMO SINGLES are extremely difficult to find these days(FORTY TWO YEARS AFTER THERE RELEASE). Even at the time they werenever available to the genral public and used only to promote thisearly single from one of rock most iconic bands.
Finding acopy of this early, Aussie only single is rare in any condition. Butthis copy is in EX++ CONDITION.
This highly collectable AC/DCartefact has been carefully stored in a smoke free environment forOVER FORTY YEARS!
