Here's a beautiful, all-original Burns radio horn with an excellent, undamaged pyralin bell.  The speaker was manufactured by the American Electric Co. in Chicago in 1925 and designed to be used with high end battery radios that featured at least one stage of audio amplification.

Among the most beautiful of all 1920s loudspeakers, Burns horns are also among the most fragile. The flower-shaped bell consists of molded strips of pyralin plastic joined at the edges by double-slotted binding strips. If the speaker is not handled carefully, its leaves can crack and break, which is why you seldom find these speakers in acceptable condition.
The bell is perfectly formed and original throughout, with a few minor marks, but no missing pieces of pyralin, no cracks, no warps, no hairlines. All of the leaves are joined tightly at the seams. The paint on the elbow, base and driver housing is original, with scattered marks consistent with age and handling.
The speaker has been tested, and it still works well, with low distortion and good dynamics. It comes with its original driver cord, which is electrically sound and suitable for use.

The speaker is 21" tall, with a bell diameter of 12 1/2". It is ideally suited for any 1920's radio but is perhaps most often seen with early Atwater Kent breadboards. Shipping weight, properly packed, will be approximately 20 lb.

That's about it.  Rest assured it will arrive at your home in the same fine condition in which it leaves mine. I have been shipping antique phonographs and radios for years, and if you check my feedback, you'll see that I know how to do it correctly.  Believe me -- this is not a speaker you want to purchase from someone who has never shipped one before.  I have shipped more than 2 dozen Burns horns over the past 20 years, so I know how to pack them properly, in a manner that will ensure they arrive undamaged.

Buyer prepays and includes shipping. If you're bidding from overseas, please contact me in advance for a shipping quote.  Auction participants with no prior feedback should contact me before placing a bid.
