Vintage McIntosh MC75 Mono Block AmplifierThis amp was purchased recently from an auction. I have had it professionally serviced to ensure it is in working order. The servicing included: (1) rebuilding the power supply (2) replaced 3-watt resistors (3) cleaned all controls (4) replaced rectifier and (5) replaced several capacitors. The technician confirmed it is stable and working. I do not know the history of this unit, so it is recommended to have it restored to avoid any damage and for the ul...timate sound quality. I cleaned the unit and gave it an all around visual inspection. Cosmetically, this unit looks GREAT. Possibly one of the best looking units of it's age that I've seen. The unit is in extremely good cosmetic condition and has hardly no pitting or rust. The majority of the lettering is fully intact and looks great and the chrome is super shiny and clean. The gain knob appears to have been replaced and has more rotation (revolutions) than other MC75's I have seen and doesn't have the 'click' when you reach full gain with the right counter turn.I have tried to show as much of the cosmetic imperfections as possible. A pair of McIntoch MC50 solid-state amplifiers. Rated at 50 watts each. These are grossly under rated to ensure McIntosh could meet their exacting output distortion specifications. I would guess these can put out 65 watts easily. These were custom made for an industrial application with the output transformer supplying two additional output taps for 100 and 275 ohm loads. The other taps work just as any other audio amplifier. They were only used in a test fixture for a couple of years in the 197...0's. They've been sitting ever since. For sale is a McIntosh MC-60 that has been modified to have solid state rectification. It also appears that the power transformer is from a MC-75. The chassis was slightly butchered by the previous owner who made these modifications, but there is a lot here to work with. Chassis does have rust as well. Screws are not original. Transformer and bottom cover has scratches, scuffs, and oxidation. I have not plugged in this amplifier. However, it does appear to be wired up to function and not an unfi...nished project. This amplifier should be serviced before any attempt is made to plug it in. Tubes are also untested and may need to be replaced. You have a lot of options here. This is a single amplifier of a pair of McIntosh MC-30s in excellent condition. THESE ARE PRICED EACH. YOU WILL NEED TO BUY BOTH FOR THE PAIR. These are about as clean as can be expected for this era. There are a couple of rust spots, some very light pitting in places, and maybe a few scratches, but these are absolutely beautiful. These have consecutive serial numbers, which makes them an extremely rare matched pair. You could go years without seeing another matched pair come up for sale. Units ...have not been turned on for many years, maybe had a resistorcap or two replaced, and appear to have had the cord replaced. They're ready to restore the way you want to. Tubes are unremarkable, you'll want to replace and matched up pairs of tubes on these. Thelettering is 98 present on both. The transformers and bottom covers are in excellentcondition with paint in beautiful condition. This is a matched pair in terms ofthe circuitry and components that are identical.
