ITEM: Original WWII Large Snapshot Photo of the 7th ARMORED DIVISION in the ETO. 7th Armored Division captured German TRIPLE 20mm FLAK ANTI-AIRCRAFT GUN somewhere in the ETO, 1944-1945.Photo is from Corporal Frederick Charles Stoddard of Lewis, New York. S/N 32663701. He trained with the 748th Tank Battalion for 2 years but was transferred t...o the 7th Armored Division before the 748th Tank Battalion landed on Utah Beach. In the 7th Armored Division Stoddard was in the HQ Company of the CCR (Combat Command Reserve) which absorbed men of the 9th Armored Group to form a third front line combat command within the 7th Armored Division along with the CCA and CCB. The CCR included the 814th Tank Destroyer Battalion and the 203rd AAA BATTALION. Stoddard and his outfit in the 7th Armored Division saw heavy fighting in the Breakout From Normandy, The Battle of the Bulge, St. Vith, and the Battle of the Ruhr Pocket. He returned home on the SS Wheaton Victory in December 1945.SORRY.
