This pair of earrings are tiny Alebrije works of art!! Each one is entirely handmade, hand carved and hand painted by Ana Xuana of San Martín Tilcajete in Oaxaca Mexico. Each earring is a one of a kind piece. Ana comes from a family of Alebrije artists (see photo # 6 of her family). She is one of the few Alebrije artists who undertakes the entire production of a piece herself. From the carving, sanding and painting, Ana does all of these steps. ... Most Alebrije artists specialize in one part of the process, such as the carving or the painting.... These earrings would make a great gift for the Donkey / Burro Lover, or a nice gift for yourself!!! I have a similar pair that I kept for myself, i just love wearing them... they make me very happy!!!
They have shepherd hooks for pierced ears.
They measure: 2 1/4 inches long (from top of the hook to bottom of the feet) & 3/4 of an inch wide.
They are brand new and are signed by Ana on the back side...
"Ana carves fine miniatures, specializing in masks, animals, and mermaids – some mounted as earrings. Many of her family members carve, but she is the only one who devotes herself to miniatures. The delicacy of her painting also distinguishes her work."
