THIS AUCTION FEATURES A VINTAGE ( 1950'S OR EARLIER) HAKATA URASAKI CLAY DOLL. IT IS A SCENE OF A TATTOO ARTIST WORKING ON A GEISHA. THIS PIECE HAS CHIPS AND FLAKING, SELLING 'AS IS' CONDITION-SEE PICTURES. THESE DOLLS WERE MADE FROM CLAYS FOUND IN FUKOTA CITY. THE STYLE WAS CREATED BY THE EARLY 17TH CENTURY SOCHICHI MASAKI-ROOF TILE CRAFTSMAN. THE DOLLS REPRESENTED PEOPLE WORKING AT THEIR TRADES, AND IN THEIR EVERY DAY LIFE. THIS EXAMPLE UP FOR AUCTION IS BACKSTAMPED... WITH AN EARLY TRADEMARK-SEE PICTURES.
