1888 H/M Sterling Silver Penknife w MOP Sides in Fairfax Roberts Sydney CaseThis is a quality accessory that the well to do Australian gent could not live without! It is a pocket penknife with a sterling silver blade. It is hallmarked Sheffield 1888 with maker’s initials of “RMEH” Martin, Hall & Co (Richard Martin & Ebenezer Hall), Shrewsbury Works, Sheffield. It has mother of pearl sides with simple and elegant decoration of two parallel grooves. There is a lineal escutcheon en...graved with the initials “AC”. One side of the blade is ornately chased with a trailing blackberry or similar berry plant. Its handle has refined chasing along its spine. It is rare to find a knife of this quality with its original retailers box. Even rarer in this instance as it comes with aa Fairfax and Roberts, Sydney jewellers leatherette, velvet and satin case.It penknife is in very good antique condition; the case is a little scuffed though presents very well. Both with a little expected very minor wear. The photos form part of the description and condition report.
