For sale is a vintage POMONA Electronics, Inc., Novar Test Socket, Model 1779, left behind by my late father in his electronics inventory. My father was a radio, TV, and other electronics serviceman for much of his life, and left behind a lifetime's "collection" of electronics parts, most of which I have no idea what they are. Fortunately for me, he also left behind a lifetime "collection" of electronics parts catalogs, which I have found to be extremely helpful... in identifying these parts!!
This tester appears to be unused, though there is some "scuffing" of the label, most likely from moving around in storage. See photos to see what you think.
We found this item in the 10-65 Pomona Electronics Co., Inc. catalog, and it was introduced as new in this catalog. Here's what we found:
Model 1779 9-pin Novar test socket tube adapter. Ideal for making measurements of voltage, resistance, audio and video without tracing complicated circuits from the bottom of the chassis. Feature extended test tabs for easy use with either alligator clips or test prods. Low loss mica-filled molded phenolic construction per mil-M-14, MFE. Power factor less than 0.010 at 10 Mc. High insulation resistance IR, exceeds 500, 000 Meg. ohms at 40% R.H. at 24 degrees C. Distributed capacity, inter-dash element approximately 1 micro-micro ferad. High voltage operation voltage breakdown elements exceeds 1700 volts AC or DC. Molded of electronic grade black phenolic.
