1927 Stewart Warner Dancing Ladies Radio Speaker Iconic Art Deco Design
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:51255722 |
Here's a beautiful, working 1927 Stewart Warner "Dancing Ladies" radio speaker.
This iconic speaker, a visual testament to the Bacchanalian excesses of the Jazz Age, features a figural, base relief grill with a pair of free-wheeling Flappers dancing on an imaginary stage, their clothes flying off of them as they surrender to the music of the moment.
Construction is primarily cast iron and brass, and the speaker stands 13" high.
Condition overall is excellent. Appears to have been restored at some point in the past, though the extent of the restoration -- other than new grill fabric -- is unknown.
Tested and working, and a perfect mate for the 1927 Stewart Warner battery that I have listed in a separate auction this (pictured in the last photo and NOT included with the speaker).
Shipping weight will be approximately 20 lb.
When you've finished checking out my ebay listings this week, take a look at my TechnoGallerie website, where you can buy hard-to-find antique phonographs, antique radios, antique cameras and other gadgets you're not likely to see anywhere else. New arrivals include a near mint mahogany Edison Home phonograph with 2/4 gearing, a K reproducer, and a Cygnet horn; and a 1922 DeForest Interpanel radio with a complete set of plug-in tuning coils. Just type TechnoGallerie in the address line of your web browser and hit the enter key. TechnoGallerie has a newsletter, too, and if you take a second to sign up for it, you'll receive an email update whenever I list something new on the site -- typically once a week.
I'll pack very carefully, and the speaker will arrive at your home in the same fine condition in which it leaves mine. I have been shipping antique phonographs and radios for years, and if you check my feedback, you'll see that I know how to do it correctly. Buyer prepays and includes shipping.
