Here is a classic 1950's vintage Movado doctor's chronograph in solid 18k rose gold! Movado was one of the first Swiss watch manufacturers to produce wrist chronographs, beginning in 1912, and Movado produced the first split-seconds chronograph in 1921. While Movado was reknown for the manufacture of their own innovative chronograph movements, in 1936 Movado commissioned Frederic Piguet of Le Brassus to produce the chronograph calibres 90 and 95M, which are recognized as am...ong the finest mechanical chronograph movements ever produced! Here's the details on this highly collectible complicated timepiece: MOVADO (18k Rose Gold Two-Register Doctor's Chronograph) - Excellent 34mm signed solid 18k rose gold snapback case (#101886/R9023) with stepped bezel and lugs and flat chronograph push buttons at 2:00 and 4:00, signed 17 jewel calibre 90M chronograph movement, signed silver satin original dial with two sunken registers (constant seconds, minutes to 60), blue "Gradue pour 30 pulsations" doctor's chapter ring, gold mirrored baton hour markers, rose gold hands and red chronograph sweep seconds, leather strap with goldtone buckle. The calibres 90-95M chronograph movements were manufactured by Movado from the late thirties until the late sixties, enjoying a long but limited production run until the advent of the automatic chronograph movement ("El Primero") in the late 1960's. This chronograph is a specialty piece, as distinguished by "gradue pour 30 pulsations" chapter ring, used by doctor's for measuring a patient's pulse. The signed solid 18k rose gold snapback case is in excellent condition, and bears the reference numbers 101886/R9023. The case is solid 18k rose gold, and features flat chronograph push buttons and extended stepped lugs (38mm lug to lug). The signed 17 jewel calibre 90M chronograph movement is running fine and keeping time, and the chronograph function works as designed. The inner casebook shows multiple watchmaker's marks, dating back to 1953. The design and function of the calibres 90M and 95M chronograph movement is unique, with the bottom push button controlling the starting and stopping of the chronograph movement, allowing for split times, while the top push button is the reset button. The signed silver satin dial is original in good condition, with minor aging and patina Some of the lettering on the periphery is worn. The acrylic crystal shows minor crazing. The crown shows wear and appears original. This is a classic and highly collectible complicated timepiece from the 1950's!
