Various Artists (Dictionary extensively illustrated in black and white.)HCS5906-1Please pay very close attention to our grading guide because we are very specific and the condition of a pulp or magazine can be critical to its value. Although we are not perfect, we are very proud of our grading and strive to become the grading standard of the internetWhen grading pulps we identify a grade which includes the cover, spine, and back cover. Then we describe the paper quality from off-white to brown or brittle. For lower grade pulps in lots or regular magazines (which don't have the same paper quality problem) we don't usually describe the paper quality unless there is a significant problem. In general, regular magazine paper is usually a supple cream to tan. VERY FINE-(VF): Appears almost like new with high color gloss. It is a flat, tight book with no or almost imperceptible cover creases. The overhang may bend and have a few very small creases or tears but none large enough to affect visual appearance. FINE-(FN): A sharp copy with minor defects. Very minor tears, a minor 18 inch chip out of the overhang. A flat tight book that may be similar to a VF but doesn't have that freshness or gloss. VERY GOOD-(VG): A copy with a number of milder defects. Mild creases with very small chips from the edges. At this grade the edges are starting to have numerous small tears and creases. Minor wrinkling and small pieces of the spine may be missing. Mild fading and could have some tape on the spine. GOOD: A worn copy, typical of an older magazine. Numerous defects including more severe creasing, fading, wrinkling, andor larger chips from the cover and the spine may be taped. FAIR: A very worn copy, our lowest grade. This grade may have defects that include large pieces out of the front cover, a missing spine, and significant soiling but still readable. BR Powered by eBay Turbo ListerBR The free listing tool. FOR BIBLIOPHILES AND WOULD-BESCHOLARSEnglish Poetry from the 1600S Another offering from my early English literature shelf. I just have to face the fact that Im notgoing to get around to reading this. Myreading list of books ahead of this is just too steep Up for auction is a nice volume of The Poems of Richard Lovelace edited byC.H. Wilkinson published by Oxford University Press. I confess I dont know why I ever got this book. It wasnt from my areas of specialty ingraduate school and I really d...ont know anything about Richard Lovelace. I know that these date from the 17thCentury and that many of them doubled as songs and were once set to music. The musical settings are not included in thistext. If they were, Id probably keepit. Many of these poems were addressed toa lady, whether real or rhetorical I dont know. If youve gotten this far, you probably knowmore than I do about Richard Lovelace. Unlike most of the other books I have up for auction now, this English is more modern. However, the text is set typographically similar to the original 17th C.book. This means youll have to adjustto things like s being rendered f with the crossbar not continuing past thestem. Its a pretty easy adjustment andactually makes you feel like youve done a little time travel. But you need to be aware of this. I cant actually type this on my machine, butheres a sample line: Then from thy firme felfe never fwerve (Then from thy firmself never swerve) Condition Excellent unread condition, really near fineBound in navy blue buckram with Oxford Univeritys coat ofarms impressed in the front boardSpines straight and clean with reddish gold stamping thatlooks a little faded, but if so its from time not sun or useBoards are clean with no damageHinges firm and intactPages clean and bright and suppleBinding strong and tightPrevious owners bookplate on inside frontNo highlighting or underlining as mentioned this was neverreadOriginal dust covers intact but with sun fading and slightdiscoloration around the perimeters about a ½ tear and fold on back I will gladly combine shipping for multiple items. IF YOU PURCHASE MULTIPLE ITEMS, PLEASE DO NOT PAY RIGHT AWAY. PLEASE WAIT UNTIL I SEND YOU AN INVOICE THAT WILL REFLECT THE TOTALWEIGHT AND CORRECT POSTAGE. Ive been conservative and accurate in my detaileddescriptions of the items exact condition, including pictures, so you shouldknow what youre getting. If you findthat Ive missed something, please contact me first rather than leaving nuclearfeedback. We can work out asolution. Feel free to ask questions inadvance. I am not an antiques or commercial dealer, just a personwith too many interests who doesnt like to get rid of things.
