MEXICAN STERLING TEA SET c1950 CONQUISTADOR - JENSEN STYLE
A fine and rare, mid-century Mexican sterling silver Jensen style (partial) tea service.
From the Mexico City firm of Conquistador.Founded in the 1930s by Horacio de la Parra.
Crafted fine silver for both William Spratling and Aguilar.
Distinctive conquistador on horse in shield trademark. The firm closed in the 1950s.
Raised urn or cauldron form flaring at rim.
C...over retains the original desert rose and curling vine finial. Wide sweeping twin lobe covered spout.
Tapering vine with three rolls at center handle. Interwoven wave stem and thick stepped edge base.
The set never monogrammed.
The Conquistador Jensen style teapot is 11 inches and set weighs 48 1/2 standard ounces.
Never monogrammed.
Hallmarked as shown.
This is the 1949-1952 Conquistador hallmark,
which is illustrated page 49 of the Little Book Of Mexican Silver and Hallmarks.
In very fine condition.
Teapot interior clean as if never used.Rich sterling patina.
