This is a truly visionary mask by well-known Oaxacan-born artist Ididro Cruz Hernandez (1934-2015). This is one of the most lively and theatrical we have seen by the artist
Born in San Martin Tilcajete, Cruz Hernandez was a pioneer in woodcarving and became well-known both in Oaxaca and abroad, with many folk art museums possessing works by the artist in their collections.
