WE CAN COMBINE SHIPPING ON MULTIPLE ITEMS IF THEY CLOSE WITHIN TWO DAYSOF EACH OTHER, AND CAN BE SENT IN ONE BOX.ATHABASCAN ESKIMO  STORAGE OR SEED BASKETLATE 19TH / EARLY 20TH CENTURYDIMENSIONSAbout 6" diameter x 5 1/2" highDESCRIPTIONCoiled, lidded basket with a knop on the lid.  One-rod, coiled basket, with spaced stitches.  Probably willow and conifer root.  Retains remnants of old red dye decorations around the widest part of the body.  Rich, nut brown age... patina.  Probably Athabascan Eskimo or Yup'ik.  The Yupik (Yup'ik) are a group of indigenous peoples of western, southwestern, and southcentral Alaska and the Russian Far East. They are Eskimo and are related to the Inuit and Inupiat peoples.  Traditionally, families spent the spring and summer at fish camp, then joined with others at village sites for the winter. Many families still harvest the traditional subsistence resources, especially Pacific salmon and seal.CONDITIONOverall excellent.  No defects noted.  Tight and sturdy.  Beautiful surface patina.  A FINE OLD ALASKAN NATIVE AMERICAN BASKET.  All items shipped USPS priority mail.
