I have a large collection of Berlin Woolwork patterns for sale, some unusual, and later on I will be selling similar items, but French.
This auction is for 3 mid 19th c German patterns, all printed with the company name, "Berlin Bei L.W.Wittich" and the address. Two are also marked as having been purchased at Wilks of Regent Street (London)
I will be doing a few listings today, and am happy to combine postage.
Please note that... I am in France right now so postage prices are from La Poste, which is more expensive than UK post. The prices I quote are basic with no insurance or tracking. If you want a better service ( which I would recommend as the Christmas post is starting and things do not always end up where they should), please ask me for a quote.
If I overcharge I always refund the excess.
Firstly, a pattern with pink roses, foliage to the corners, and forget-me-nots entwined with pink ribbon as a central feature, inside which is a yellow star with 16 points.Inside the dark border the pattern measures approx. 8.25 inches or 21 cm by 6.25 inches or 16cm.Pattern # 852
Note that this pattern has been well used but loved enough to be patched on the back. All 4 edges have slight tears.
As I work through this collection, I see most have a name written in spidery letters in pen. This one has the name on the back, different to the others, maybe this indicates that the owner lent out her patterns to friends but wrote the name on the back so as to claim them back! Lovely!
Secondly, another by Wittich and noted accordingly This time a border with flowers, horseshoe, musical instruments? Approx. 8.25 inches or 21.5cm by 2.5 inches or 7cmPattern # 190
Finally, a floral spray of convolvulus, with the distinctive leaves. Two different edging borders provided. Approx. 7 inches or 18 cm by 4.25 inches or 11cm.Pattern # 694
All 3 are on thick paper.
