Illustrated with 254 high quality color plates, all are present and are nearly fine or better and all but a few have the original tissue overlay. Covers with much soiling, spotting, some staining. Fraying at the spine ends, cor...ners are bumped with board tips showing. White tape along the front and rear interior hinges for strengthening. Very sporadic light soiling. Very minor foxing. Chipping along edges of free endpapers. Bookplates to the front free endpapers of each. There is also a former owner embossed name to the ffep and title of each volume. Text in English and French. In his time Gorer was one of the most respected and well known dealers of Chinese art and antiques. He died during the sinking of the RMS Lusitania in 1915. Check prices on available copies online.
