AMERICAN, CIRCA MIDDLE OF 19TH CENTURY, WAS GIVEN AS A PRESENT RIGHT BEFORE CIVIL WAR.GORGEOUS SOLID 14K YELOW GOLD HANDLE.HIGH QUALITY 8-SIDED HARD WOOD SHAFT (elegant, but sturdy). HANDLE IS NOT MARKED WITH HALLMARKS - DEFINITELY WAS MADE ON SPECIAL ORDER - WAS PROFESSIONALLY TESTED AND GUARANTEED 14K (or higher) SOLID GOLD.HANDLE IS ENGRAVED AT THE TOP: "H.C to J.W 1856" (in my opinion, engraving is a very charming detail, but however, it can be easily buffed off if desired) BEAUTIFUL ORIGINAL DECORATIVE FACTORY ENGRAVING AT THE TOP AND ON THE SIDES OF HANDLE.
