Offered here is a 2-sided 4th Model Barcroft Table Lighter Zippo with an engraving of the U.S.S. Repose hospital ship and "U.S.S. Repose AH16 Plank leaser on the front. The reverse reads "USS Repose AH-16 Recommissioned by Hunters Point Division San Francisco Bay Naval Shipyard on 16 October 1965" on the back. After being built in 1945 and serving in Japan and Korea, she was recommissioned in 1965 for service in Vietnam. Arriving in19...66, she was permanently deployed to Southeast Asia and earned the nickname “Angel of the Orient", treating over 9, 000 battle casualties and 24, 000 inpatients while deployed. She departed Vietnam in 1970 and served as a hospital annex for Long Beach Naval Shipyard until sold for scrap in 1975.
The lighter is lightly used but looks mint with no nicks, dents, spots or scratches. The hinge is tight. The paint is 100%. Please see images for more condition information.
