RARE Antique signed Toshikane Seven Gods of Good Fortune; Occupied Japan porcelain Kichijōten bracelet. Set in sterling silver this measures 7 1/2 inches x 7/8 inches. Hallmarked "Silver" and "Made in Occupied Japan" on the back. With the original safety chain. In excellent condition, lightly tarnished, has not been cleaned and retains original patina. I see no damage anywhere on this bracelet. Circa 1945-1952. It's an amazing piece of rare Japanese je...welry and the color is still as bright as the day it was made.
The seven Gods of Fortune (or seven Immortals) are: Hotei, the fat and happy god of abundance and good health. Jurōjin, God of longevity. Fukurokuju, God of happiness, wealth and longevity. Bishamonten, God of warriors. Benzaiten (Benten-sama), goddess of knowledge, art and beauty. Daikokuten (Daikoku), god of wealth, commerce and trade. Ebisu and Daikoku are often paired and represented as carvings or masks. Ebisu, God of fishers or merchants, often depicted carrying a sea bream. Alternately Kichijōten is used (as in the case of this bracelet. Kichijōten is a female deity representing happiness and good luck. A piece of jewelry that tells a story!
This bracelet is on the cover of Fred Rezazdeh's book, "Collectible Silver Jewelry Identification and Value Guide". I have listed the matching earrings and the matching necklace in separate auctions.
Me:This and all the jewelry I am selling comes from my personal collection. It is time to finally downsize. I have been collecting for 60 years with many pieces given to me as gifts and others I picked up while traveling to many different countries. Some came from estate sales that I used to attend. Many came from well known and respected antique jewelry dealers. Some pieces are relatively new, many are mid-century pieces and some are vintage/antique. I went through phases where I collected mid-century Mexican, Scandinavian, Victorian, Bohemian Garnet, Mid-Century American, and many others.
I will give all details, that I can remember, about where the pieces came from and describe everything I can see as best I can. Please look at all of the pictures closely in case I have missed anything. I took detailed photos. I want the buyer to be happy and I do not want to deal with returns. It took me months to do all the drafts so that I could list these on the same couple of days such that I could combine shipping. Please ask any questions. I am not a jeweler or expert of any kind - just someone who loved collecting and wearing jewelry. I will try my best to describe everything in detail.
As I am selling as true auctions, with everything starting at $1, I am not taking returns unless I have missed something like damage that I didn't see or I have been mistaken about something significant in the description.
Handling & Shipping: I am going to need 5 business days to get everything packaged to send off. Please do not bid if you feel this is too long a time period to wait. I hope it will take less time but I do not know. I will get all of this out the door and to you as soon as possible!
IF YOU ARE COMBINING SHIPPING YOU MUST MESSAGE ME AND LET ME KNOW SO THAT I CAN SEND YOU AN INVOICE WITH THE COMBINED SHIPPING COST PRIOR TO SENDING PAYMENT. PLEASE DO NOT SEND PAYMENT BEFORE I GET YOU THE SHIPPING COST.
Shipped USPS first class. I will combine multiple purchases and just charge you exactly what the shipping costs.
