Here we have a very fine vintage "Londoner" briar estate pipe in the straight 'dublin' style, with a superb grain to the briar, crafted by famous British pipe-maker 'Barling'.
It remains in very good condition overall - a couple of tiny, shallow surface chips on the briar - and one very small hole in the underside of the stem.
There is a shallow layer of carbon in the chamber, and a little darkening to the bowl rim.The stem fixes very securely to the shank, and air flows through the pipe freely.
Stamped on the top of the briar shank is "Londoner" over "B. Barling", with model number "404 S" on the underside."BB&S" (for B. Barling & Sons) adorns the stem in white.
