This wonderful Arapaho Indian Beaded Pouch is made of a supple, brain tanned hide and lined with a muslin type cloth. It is thread and sinew sewn by hand. The Pouch features concentric bands on one side using cha...lk white and periwinkle seed beads. The opposite side features a multi-colored, salt and pepper field with a central, periwinkle colored band and a black traditional design.raditional Cheyenne “circle” designs executed using pumpkin, chalk white, red white heart and medium blue spot stitched seed beads on a black bead field. The Pouch has a border of light blue seed beads and it retains its original rawhide ties and hanger.

This very rare and original, ca1900 Southern Plains / Arapaho Indian Bead Decorated Hide Pouch is in very good condition. The hide elements are supple and sound and very well preserved as can be seen in the scans below. There is no physical damage and no repairs of any kind. The beadwork is very well preserved with no loss but with a tiny line of lazy stitched seed beads on the border loose. Overall the Pouch is very well preserved and displays beautifully.
