Antique American Indian Beaded Quill Pipe Tobacco Pouch Cree Ojibwa Chippewa ?
Item History & Price
This was also in my grandmother's collection, It was given to her parents, when they came to the United States. They were in Kentucky, Missouri, Western Washington, Montana and Canada. I don't know where they were, when this ...was presented to them.
It has definite wear, but for its age, I would say in good condition. I have done my best to show all of the details - both sides are represented. The beadwork is amazing and the beads are tiny! The deerhide pouch is pulled out on both sides - more on one side than the other.
It measures 17 inches long in total. The pouch (without the fringe) measures 11.75 inches. The quilled area is 2.75 inches and the width is 5.50 inches. Many of the quills wrappings are missing, as you can see.
I will be shipped insured with USPS First Class or Priority. If you should purchase any of my other items, I will gladly ship together to save you money. I am also selling other American Indian items: a bone and brass with rawhide necklace, an original oil painting and an amazing Bison horned hat rack.On Jan-11-21 at 15:15:04 PST, seller added the following information:I was asked about the red and black design, on the bottom of the pouch. The red and black pattern is made from wound threads. And the pouch has been in a trunk in my basement for 40 years, prior to that, it was in that same trunk in my grandmother's attic for many years (don't know how many). To my knowledge, there had been no alterations to the pouch. If there were, it would have had to been over 50 years ago, but very very doubtful. My family aren't the collector types and would have had no reason to alter or repair anything.
