This antique Chinese embroidered Eight Immortals Deities banquet wall hanging tapestry dates from the 19th century, during the Qing Dynasty. It is made of a peach color silk fabric with colorful raised padded satin stitch hand embroidered Chinese figures of Deities, Gods, Goddesses,... the money frog and the Eight Immortals depicted in an artistic picturesque finely embroidered design style. This magnificent wall hanging tapestry was likely used for a wedding banquet or ceremony and is backed on a red cotton fabric lining. The tapestry measures 82 inches long and is 40 inches wide. It is in fair as-is condition, needing restoration repairs, with many frays, rips, splits on the silk fabric throughout, frayed separation along the top, sides from the lining backing and some faint discoloration staining (see close-ups). This is truly a wonderful one of a kind piece of antique Chinese embroidery art!
