RimRock: Rare HAMPTON BUTTE PETRIFIED WOOD Rough Slab DescriptionI got this from an old collection and it was collected in the '50s. This material comes from Central Oregon near Hampton Butte and is what they call a replacement wood which, as a rule, has no wood grain visible.
This piece is showing green and brown patterns in the clear agate which has some banding. I see a fracture here and there and it has glue on one side that I sanded, but there's still a little left. ...You could polish a side and put it on a stand for a display specimen or you could cab it.
It measures, at its widest:
5-1/2" x 4-7/8" x 5/16"
