For auction is a Birch Model 3 portable or suitcase phonograph, manufactured by Boetsch Brothers prob...ably in the 1920's, which plays only 78 RPM shellac records. Generally it is in great shape and sounds very good. The wooden case is faux leather cloth covered, which has some"bubbling" and a few scrapes. Otherwise the covering is in very good shape. Speed control and stop/start work fine. A small covered cup will hold extra needles and there is a record holder in the top for about ten records. When not in use the crank is stored in a holder behind the turntable. I have recently rebuilt the reproducer as well as oiled and greased the motor. I think it sounds just like new. One record and some needles will be shipped with the phonograph.
