This extremely rare matching pair of weights were made to check the weight of 1 and 1/2 guinea gold coins. They are marked with the initials "RT" in a heart shaped countermark which is thought to be the mark of Richard Tucker, listed in a business directory of 1791 as "the only scale maker in Exeter". Wither identifies the 1 guinea weight under reference 2141, and classifies it as "RR" (extremely rare) but has no reference at all to the 1/2 guinea weight. This is a rare opportuni...ty to acquire the two weight set in really good condition as shown.
